My previous writing experience includes four years of English in high school and two years of writing composition in my previous college, ECPI. I have written quite a few papers over the years from school. My writing has improved over the years from all these past experiences and I hope for it to improve even more so from taking this course.
I've found myself to enjoy writing because I find it easier at times to convey what your thinking by writing rather than saying what you think. I mainly write for my classes but I used to go into forums every now and then but I usually just viewed what people have to say and I don't comment as much as other people. Mainly because I found it interesting to get other people's opinions on different topics.
I would say that I have received some positive and some negative responses on my writing. The negative comments are usually do to my lack of understanding some forms of punctuation such as semicolons and commas at times. I usually react by striving to do better and I use that feedback to improve onto my writing. I usually know when to put commas in but sometimes I'm just not sure what type of punctuation is necessary for some situations. What I hope to learn from this class is a better understanding of when to use the necessary punctuation. Even though its pretty fundamental I struggle with it at times.
I believe that writing will prove to be important to me in my academic and career goals. My career goal is to hopefully work in a recording studio and to make my living as a musician playing drums. I plan to transfer from here to a four year college and get my degree in music production and business. I will probably have to write a few papers for the music theory classes I will end up having to take. So taking this class will prove quite usefull in preparing me for this.
